Global Design Project 081 | Color Challenge

What a simple and fun color challenge, using Night of Navy, Whisper White and a Free Choice.  I love Night of Navy and it's one of my go to colors for Christmas cards.   I just wanted to make a Christmas themed card but it just seemed wrong this time of year.  I chose another favorite Cherry Cobbler as my free color choice.  Here's my challenge submission:

and the challenge:

card base:  Cherry Cobbler # 119685 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2"
Whisper White #100730 layer cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
Night of Navy #100867

Stamp set: Timeless Textures #140517
Any Occasion - Sale-A-Bration
Lift Me Up Bundle (Lift Me Up Stamp Set and Up & Away Thinlits Dies) #144712
Ink: Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad #126970
Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin' Pad #126966

Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #143263
SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Fine Tip Glue Pen #138309
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

Using the stamp off technique stamp the textured background using Night of Navy Classic Ink.  Using the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, cut out the large balloon out of Night of Navy card stock and layers out of scraps in the three colors.  Adhere the layers to the back of the balloon using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  On a scrap of Whisper White, stamp the medium balloon from the Lift Me Up Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler Ink. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the two balloons to the card base.  Stamp a sentiment to the card front.  I used the Sale-A-Bration Any Occasion Stamp Set.

Fab Friday 109 | Sketch Challenge

This was another fun challenge for me.  It's a card sketch I've never used before and I wasn't sure how I felt about it or how it would turn out.  Let's see what you think...

Always Artichoke #105119 cut at 4 3/4" x 5 1/2"
Designer Series Paper - retired, select a layer of your choice, cut at 2 1/4" x 4 1/2"
Very Vanilla #101650, cut at 4 1/4" x 2" and scrap for sentiment 2 1/2" x 1/2"

Stamp set: Lovely As a Tree #127793
Teeny Tiny Wishes #127802
Ink: Early Expresso Classic Stampin' Pad #126974
Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad #126972

Blender Pens #102845
5/8" Burlap Ribbon #141487, approximately 3 3/4"

Paper Snips #103579
SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

This was such a simple card to make and assemble and so perfect for Father's Day.

Stamp the large tree grouping image form Lovely As a Tree stamp set using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto the Very Vanilla card stock. Using the Blender Pen, pick up ink from the Always Artichoke Classic Stampin' Pad and dap the ink on the branches to make the leaves.  Using SNAIL Adhesive adhere the stamped layer to the DSP and then to the Always Artichoke layer.  Next, add the Burlap Ribbon and finally stamp and adhere the sentiment strip.

SUO Challenge #171 | A Favorite April Theme

I love the April Showers, Spring Flowers theme of this challenge...Anything that inspires April.  What a great way to welcome in spring. I'm so excited to submit the simple project below for this fun spring challenge:

card base:  Whisper White (#100730) 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2"

Stamp set: Beautiful You #143637
Ink: Island Indigo Classic Stampin' Pad #122923
Soft Sky Classic Stampin' Pad #131203
Smokey Slate Classic Stampin' Pad #131179
Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad #122922
Perfect Plum Classic Stampin' Pad #101889

Block H #118488
Stampin Spritzer #126185
Aqua Painter #103964
Paper Snips #103579
SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

Ink up the bottom third of your H clear block with Smokey Slate Classic Ink, the centre third with Soft Sky Classic Ink and the top third with Island Indigo Classic Ink.  Using your Stampin Spritzer, spritz  water onto the entire block.  This will help the colors blend and will give you the spotted/dotted look when the paper absorbs the ink. Set aside to dry.

Next, stamp the Lady with Umbrella Image over the stamped background using StazOn Ink.  On a scrap of Whisper White card stock stamp the image again and fussy cut using paper snips. Using an Aqua Painter, apply Smokey Slate Classic Ink to the umbrella, Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink to the skirt and Perfect Plum Classic Ink to the blouse.  Once complete, adhere the cut out image to the card base over the stamped image using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Add the Happy Birthday sentiment.

Just Add Ink Challenge #351

What a fun inspirational challenge.  I was looking through my stamp stash to see what "L" I could bring into my project and I immediately gravitated to my retired A Beautiful Thing stamp set.  The lemon stamp is just my fav.  I pull it out any time I can.

Here's my submission...

I've waited to the vary last minute to post my entry to this challenge so you will have to wait for the instructions.  I'll be sure to post them before the end of the week.

Sunday Stamps | SSC 148 Banner Love

This week's Sunday Stamps challenge is outlined below...

I've never created a card using this layout so it was an exciting challenge.  You may have read in my prior posts that I received an order recently with many new stamps, papers, ink colors, dies, impression folders and punches.  In addition, I was able to order most of the free Sale-A-Bration items and as a result, I'm so excited to explore each and every item....one at a time.

Because spring is in the air in southwestern Ontario and although winter hasn't quite wanted to let go, I though that using my new Circle of Spring stamp set and Wonderous Wreath Framelits would be perfect for this challenge.  I'm still not very comfortable with using designer series paper so you will see it rarely in my projects and usually, it will be paper that I received free from a sale-a-bration event (this DSP is from 2016 sale-a-bration however I think that the Falling in Love DSP #142788 would have been perfect for this project).

Here's my submission.  I'd love to know what you think...

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base:,Whisper White #100730 cut at 5 1/2" by 11" scored at 5 1/2"
layer:  Blushing Bride #131198, cut at 5 1/4" x 4"
layer: Whisper White, cut at 5" x 3 3/4"
DSP layer: 3" x 4 1/2"
banner layer: Blushing Bride, 2 1/2" x 4"
Whisper White, for wreath layer
6"x6" Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack - Sweet Sugar Plum #143831

Ink: StazOn Ink Pad #101406
Watercolor Pencils #141709
Aqua Painter #103954

Stamp Set: Circle of Spring #138964
Framlit Set: Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies #135851
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #143263
Elegant Butterfly Punch #127526
Bitty Butterfly Punch #129406
Rhinestone Basic Jewels #119246
Solid Bakers Twine in Blushing Bride #141683

SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Mini Glue Dots #103683
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

Another simple card with great impact...and so perfect for Mother's Day. Such a fresh breath of spring air.

Stamp and die cut the wreath image. Color using watercolor markers and blend with aqua painter.  Layer on cardstock and adhere using dimensionals.  Punch out butterflies from glimmer paper and adhere rhinestones. Using mini glue dots, adhere to card front.  Wrap bakers twine and tie in bow.  Using dimensionals adhere top layers to card base and second layer.

I hope you like this project as much as I do.

TGIF 99 | Baby! Oh Baby!

My husband's cousin and his wife welcomed baby Emerson last month and to celebrate the occasion I created the card below using the Love You Lots stamp set and the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set - Any Occasion.  What a perfect card to submit to the TGIG 99 | Baby! Oh Baby! Challenge.

#tgifc99 Baby! Oh, Baby!

WELCOME BABY EMERSON....

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base:  Basic Gray 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
top layer: Whisper White (#100730) 4" x 5 1/4"
inside: Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4"
scrap: Marina Mist #119682
Carried Away Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration #143608)

Stamp set: Love You Lots #141801
Stamp set: Any Occassion (Sale-A-Bration #143348)
Ink: Smokey Slate Classic Stampin' Pad #131179
Layering Circles Frameits #141705
Sunshine Wishes Thinlits #141489
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #143263
Washi Tape - retired
Sequins
Rhinestone Basic Jewels #119246
Fine-Tip Glue Pen $138309
SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

This hostess set is one of my favorites.  I've used it for many projects and it's perfect for Valentine's Day and Anniversaries or just a simple and random I Love You card.

I've been excited about using my Layering Circles Framelits and the Carried Away Designed Series Paper that I received free with my order as part of the Sale-A-Bration promotion.  I selected the circle framelit that best fit the elephant from the stamp set and after stamping the elephant image on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock in Smokey Slate I cut out the circle using the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine.  I selected the gray poka-dot card stock from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper that is free with a $60 CND purchase until March 31, 2017 and cut it out using a slightly larger circle framelit.  Next, from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits I selected the small flower and cut it out using the Big Shot on Marina Mist card stock.  I layered the two circles and the flower and adhered the three layers using SNAIL Adhesive.

I'm still an amateur stamper and have trouble not only using Designer Series Paper (DSP) but also Washi Tape but I took the plunge and used some Washi Tape I had in my stash that was a soft blue (Soft Sky, I think) and added a piece over the bottom of the circles.  Using the free Sale-A-Bration All Occasions stamp set, I stamped the "It's a boy" sentiment to the bottom of the card.  Every card needs some bling and so I added a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the flower as well as a few of the sequins from the 2016 Holiday Catalog.

Happy Stampin',

natalia

Global Design Project 078 | Sketch Challenge

This week's Global Design Project Challenge is a sketch challenge.  With all the new products I received last week I was excited to jump in and give this challenge a try.  This is what we were working from:

When I saw the circle image I immediately thought wreath and because I just received the Circle of Spring stamp set and we have been experiencing some warm weather I thought it was perfect for this card.  The hearts in the background made me think of the new Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.   I love the outcome and would love to know what you think...

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Blushing Bride #131198, cut at 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
layer: Whisper White, cut at 5 1/4" x 4"
inside layer: Whisper White, cut at 5 1/4" x 4"
Velum #101856
Whisper White, scrap for sentiment

Ink: StazOn Ink Pad #101406
Stampin' Write Markers #131263

Stamp Set: Circle of Spring #138964
Teeny Tiny Wishes clear mount #127802 | wood mount #128748
Framlit Set: Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies #135851
Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #142761
Substitute for Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon and Blushing Bride/Whisper White Bakers Twine would be
3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Blushing Bride #141692 and Solid Bakers Twine in Blushing Bride #141683

SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Mini Glue Dots #103683
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

This is such a simple and quick card to put together.  Just a tip when using velum, add color to the underside and I used glue dots to adhere it to the card front.  Hide the glue dots under the larger flower images so that the glue dots are hidden.  I also embossed a corner of the inside card panel.

What a breath of fresh spring air and a perfect card for Mother's Day.

Stamp Ink Paper Challenge 90 - Shaker Cards

I've been away on business for a week and  haven't had a chance to make it back to the craft room. I've been itching to take a stab at a few challenges so you may see a few posts today as I stamp away and submit my projects.

It's the first time I'm submitting a project to the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge and It's a shaker card challenge.  I've made a few shaker cards in the past and love the outcome.  This was a fun project and I thought I'd give fussy cutting a try. I used a stamp set for this shaker card that doesn't have a die.  I'd love to hear what you think...

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Whisper White #100730 4 1/4" by 11" scored at 5 1/2"
base layer: Sweet Sugarplum (#141418) cut at 4" by 5 1/4"
shaker layer: Whisper White cut at 2 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Window Sheets #142314
Scrap: Basic Gray #121044
Foil Sheet Silver #132178

Ink: StazOn Ink #101406
So Saffron #126957
Wisteria Wonder #126985
Perfect Plum #126963
Sweet Sugarplum #141395
Island Indigo #126986
Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker #100082

Stamp Set: Beautiful Ride #140738  (retired)
Thinlitslit Set: Sunshine Wishes #141489
Ornate Tag Topper Punch #137416 (retired) great substitute is Scalloped Tag Topper #133324
Bakers Twine - Blushing Bride #141683

SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Fine-Tip Glue Pen #138309
Stampin 'Dimensions # 104430
Foam Adhesive Strips #141825

Stamp the Love Bug image on the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and cut out the image using papersnips.  Stamp the image again on the window sheet using the black StazOn ink.  Line up the cut out with the stamped window sheet and adhere together using SNAIL adhesive.  Using Foam Adhesive Strips, outline the car image and fill with sequence or confetti.  I used confetti I already had in my stash but I would suggest Stampin' Ups Metallics Sequin Assortment #138390 or Brights Sequin Assortment #138389.  Once the sequins is added, remove the adhesive and adhere the scrap Whisper White backing.

Punch out a scrap Whisper White piece of card stock using the scallop punch and layer with the punched basic gray piece.  Cut out the word "love" and the heart form the Sunshine Wishes thinlits on to a scrap pieces of coordinating cardstock.  Adhere to the card front using the fine tip glue pen.  Stamp balloons from the same stamp set on to scrap Whisper White cardstock and using paper snips, fussy cut the balloons and with an Aqua Painter, color the balloons using Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Sweet Sugarplum, Island Indigo and Perfect Plum ink. Adhere to the card front using dimensionals. Using a black Stampin Write Marker, draw in the balloon strings.

Wrap bakers twine around the card front twice and tie in a bow. Using dimensionals, adhere the front panel to the card base.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope this project inspires you.

Global Design Project 077 | Color Challenge

I'd like to thank Kylie Bertucci for selecting my project as a "Special Mention" in the Global Design Project 076 Challenge.  It had only been my second submission into a design challenge and I was so thrilled to have my work recognized.

This week's challenge was most challenging as Peakaboo Peach and Bermuda Bay are two ink colors I do not own.  I also don't own any cardstock in those colors.  Below is the color challenge we have been tasked with:

I had to think outside the box for this one.....

As I prepared to take on this challenge I looked to my Sale-A-Bration "free"-bee's for the color elements. Here's my submission:

Believe it or not, I used the Sale-a-Bration Lift Me Up DSP (the scalloped Peekaboo Peach and White -somehow the peach lined up perfectly with the die cut flames) for the candle flames and I used the Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper for the candles.  The Early Espresso card stock mattes the Whisper White cardstock.  Somehow I did it..... and now as I'm thinking of it....I didn't stamp a thing. Go figure!

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Whisper White #100730 4 1/4" by 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
base layer: Early Espresso (#122925) cut at 4" by 5 1/4"
top layer: Whisper White cut at 3 7/8" x 4 7/8"

base layer: Early Espresso
top layer: Whisper White

Framlit Set: Window Box Thinlits Dies #142762
Framlit Set: Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies #145372
Layering Squares Framelits Dies #141708
Embossing Folder: Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders #142760

SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Tombo Glue #110755
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

What Will You Stamp WWYS #106

I had lots of fun putting this card together.  I just received my most recent Stampin' Up order and although I already had the Delicate Details stamp set, I hadn't had a chance to use it.  In my most recent order I received not only the Layering Squares Framilts but also the Stitched Framlits.  I also ordered the Botanical Builders Framilts and the Butterfly Punch.  I felt like I needed to use all these new tools in this challenge.

The card I created to me is abstract and artistic and I hope you love it as much as I loved making it.

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Whisper White #100730, cut at 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" scored at 4 1/4"
layer: Whisper White, cut at 5 1/4" x 4"
Velum #101856
Whisper White, scrap for flower centre
Wisteria Wonder, scrap for large square #122922
Sweet Sugarplum, scrap for small square #141418
Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper - Sale-a-Bration #143831

Ink: Blushing Bride Classic Ink Pad #131172
Smokey Slate Classic Ink Pad #131179

Framlit Set: Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies #145372
Layering Squares Framelits Dies #141708
Botanical Builder Framelits Dies #140625
Punch: Bitty Butterfly Punch #129406

SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Tombo Glue #110755
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430
Rhinestone Basic Jewels #119246
Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Ribbon (from Holiday 2016 catalog) - substitute with Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Ruched Ribbon #141428
Silver Metallic Thread #138402
Paper Snips #103579

To assemble, stamp the doilie image in Smokey Slate onto a scrap of Whisper White paper and fussy cut it with paper snips.  Stamp the delicate swirls image in Blushing Bride onto a scrap of Whisper White and fussy cut it.  Next, with your scrap of Wisteria Wonder, run the square Stiched Shape Framelit Die through the Big Shot followed by a coordinating smaller Layering Squre Framelit Die to cut out a frame in the size that best fits your card front and design.  Then do the same with the scrap of Sweet Sugarplum using appropriately sized Layering Squares Framelit Dies.  Using the Velum paper, run the largest, most detailed flower from the Botanical Builder Framelits, the largest of the four petal flowers and the fern-like leaf die from the same set through the Big Shot.  In addition, you will need two flower centres cut out using two of the three flower centre dies (pick the ones you love the best).  Cut one out of Whisper White cardstock and the other using Sweet Sugarplum.  Punch two butterflies using the Bitty Butterfly Punch using the Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper.

Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the two frames to the card front.  Next, layer the fussy cut doilie images from the Delicate Details stamp set and secure to the card front using Tombo Liquid Glue. Weave the ends through the frames.  Secure the ribbon using Tombo.  Run a small strip of SNAIL over the location where you intend to adhere the largest Botanical Builders flower and using Silver Metallic Thread, spool some into the tape to create a whimsial feel to the thread.  Now, adhere the flower over the SNAIL and thread to secure.  Next, using Tombo, adhere the flower centre and decorate with a large rhinestone.  Adhere the four petal flower in the centre of the Sweet Sugarplum frame, then adhere the centre and decorate with a medium-size rhinestone.  Finally, adhere the butterflies to the cardfront.

With dimensionals, adhere the decorated card front to the card base.

I hope you love this card as much as I do and you find it just as fun to make.  Please feel free to leave a comment and subscribe to my blog.

Fab Friday 107 - Sketch Challenge

Another Challenge....

Being new to paper crafting these weekly challenges are super fun.  They really get you out of your comfort zone and they do get the creative juices flowing.  This week's Fab Friday Challenge is a Sketch Challenge, a layout that I have never used before and I'm excited to give this a go.  Here's what we're challenged with:

Here's my take on this challenge:

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base:  Whisper White (#100730) 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
Banner: Basic Black #121045
Carried Away Designer Series Paper (Sale-A-Bration #143608)

Layering Circles Frameits #141705
Sunshine Wishes Thinlits #141489
Up & Away Thinlits Dies #142748
Big Shot Die Cutting Machine #143263
Precision Base Plate #139684
Fine-Tip Glue Pen $138309
SNAIL Adhesive #104332

Wow!  Now as I'm writing this post I'm realizing that I haven't stamped a single image on this card.  I cut out a large circle using the largest of the circle framelits from the slate gray poka-dot DSP.  Using the Up & Away Thinlit Dies, I cut out the large detailed balloon image from the set in using glimmer paper that I had in my stash (not Stampin' Up :-()  as well as the background pieces in Whisper White, Smokey Slate and Soft Sky cardstock.  Using the "congrats" sentiment from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere all the intricate pieces together.  Using SNAIL Adhesive, I adhered all the pieces to the card base.  I hope you like it (it's my husband's least fav :-(... )!

Sunday Stamps | SSC147 Cottage Colors

Yeah..It's Sunday and here's a Sunday Stamps Challenge.  With spring just around the corner this is an exciting challenge....

I love these colors however I don't have many of them in my stash just yet.  Before I became a Stampin' Up Demonstrator I would shop the Clearance Rack religiously.  There was one Calyspo Coral embossing powder and I purchased it.  I've used it once in a while and pulled it out for this challenge....

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Sahara Sand #121043 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
base layer: Calypso Coral (#122925) scrap strips
centre layer: So Safron (#105118) scrap strips
top layer: Whisper White (#100730) 2 3/4" x 5 1/2"
inside: Whisper White 4" x 5 1/4"

Stamp set: Balloon Celebration (#140675)
Ink: Lost Lagoon Classic Stampin' Pad retired, as a substitute, I would recommend Mint Macaron #138326
Basic Black Archival Stampin' Pad #140931
VersaMark Stamp Pad #102283
Stampin' Emboss Powder - Calypso Coral, retired, I would recommend Calypso Coral Classic Stampin' Pad #126983
Embossing Buddy #103083
Heat Tool #129053
1" Circle Punch #119868
Layering Circles Framlits #141705
Bakers Twine: Tangelo Twist, retired, I would recommend Calypso Coral Thick Bakers Twine #138412
SNAIL Adhesive #104332
Stampin' Dimensionals # 104430

The cottage to me always signals summer and oranges, grapefruit, lemons and limes just speak summer to me.  This stamp reminds me of the various fruit slices and I thought it was just perfect for this challenge.  The "Love Life" sentiment comes from a retired Sale-A-Bration stamp set, A Happy Thing but any fresh feeling sentiment would do.

I hope you like this project.

SUO Challenge #169 - Celebrating Green!

I'm fueling my addiction for Stampin' Challenges and am playing along with SUO - Stampin' Up Only!  The challenge is to make a project of any kind that features the color Green! Until my SU order arrives on Monday green is not a common color in my stash of products so this was a true challenge for me. When Mossy Meadow cardstock hit the clearance rack I stocked up thinking this would be a great color to use for Christmas projects and so my project uses Mossy Meadow to satisfy the "green" in the challenge.  Here's my card:

Card Measurements and Supplies:

card base: Mossy Meadow 5 1/4" x 10 1/2 " scored at 5 1/4"

Using your 1" circle punch, punch a circle out of the sticky part of a post-it note and place it in the centre of the top layer of Whisper White cardstock.  Using Basic Black Archival Ink, stamp the olive branch in a circle in the centre of the card.  Color the leaves of the olive branch using Old Olive Water Color Pencil and the olives using Rich Razzleberry Water Color Pencil, blend the color using a blender pen.  Mount the stamped cardstock to the Elegant Eggplant layer using SNAIL Adhesive.

On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock stamp the cork image using Early Espresso Classic Ink. Drag the ink over the image using an Aqua Painter to give the cork images their cork-color. Fussy cut the image using paper snips.  Give another piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock a wipe with the Embossing Buddy, stamp the round stamp image using VersaMark Ink.  Sprinkle with Copper Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.  Punch out the image using the 1" circle punch.

Adhere the layers to the centre of the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals and add the corks and stamp to the card front with more dimensionals.

I hope this project inspires you.

Global Design Project 076 | Case the Designer

I'm addicted to these challenges now and can't wait to participate week to week.

This weeks Global Design Project is to CASE - Copy And Selectively Edit GDP Designer Kylie Bertucci.  The challenge is to take inspiration from the card shown below, it can be the color, layout, theme, stamps, whatever captures your imagination and stirs up your creativity.

I took color and style inspiration from Kylie's project and produced the card below:

It seems that I only use retired stamp sets for these challenges. Somehow, I feel they fit the project the best.

I used Tip Top Taupe cardstock (#138336) as the base cutting an 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock in half to get a 4 1/4" x 11" piece and scoring it at 5 1/2".  I cut a panel of Early Espresso (#119686) at 3" by 5 1/2" and a the top panel of Very Vanilla (#101650) is cut at 2 3/4" by 5 1/2".

Regarding Dahlias stamp set was from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalogue and although I wasn't stamping back then, I purchased this stamp set from my upline when I first joined Stampin' Up and when she was de-stashing.  This stamp set is one of my favorites.  Using Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink (#126966) I stamped the dahlia image masking the first image to stamp the overlapping image so the flowers look like they are in front of or behind each other.  I mounted the stamped Very Vanilla panel to the Early Espresso panel using SNAIL Adhesive (#104332).  I added some retired Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon to the card panel.

Next, I stamped "Thank You" from the What I Love stamp set (2016 Sale-A-Bration) on to a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Early Espresso Classic Ink (#126947).  Using Layering Ovals Framelits (#141706) I cut out the sentiment and using a sponge dauber (#133773) I sponged the edge using Tip Top Taupe Classic Ink (#138325).  Using a slightly larger scalloped oval framelit, I cut out a mat for the sentiment from a scrap piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock (#119685).  I mounted the two pieces together and added them to the card panel using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430). Finally, I mounted the card panel to the card base using some more Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hope you like this project.

Avant Garden - Free Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set

I initially did not like this stamp set and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.  I spent an afternoon playing around with it and now I love the lily stamp.  I added a distressed look to both the whisper white card stock front (smaller layer) as well as the large edged layer.  I mounted the white onto a standard Tip Top Taupe card base and layer.  Each of the layers was carefully torn around the edges to add to the distressed look of the card.  The large layer was popped up on dimensionals and I added the soft suede ribbon along the bottom.  The sentiment is from last years Sale-A-Bration stamp set "What I Love".

Global Design Project 075 | Theme Challenge

I've finally taken the plunge and will be submitting this entry into the Global Design Project Challenge.  This week the challenge is a theme challenge focusing on winged creatures.

Well, I have very few stamp sets with winged creatures, two actually, "A Happy Thing" which was a Sale-A-Bration item from some years ago and the hostess set "Pun Intended".  The bee in the set was small so I opted for the other.

I started by distressing Very Vanilla cardstock (#101650) and Tip Top Taupe cardstock (#138336) with Tip Top Taupe ink (#138325) using a sponge dauber (#133773) and then stamping a boarder from Timeless Treasures (#140514-wood, #140517-clear) to the Very Vanilla cardstock (stamping off onto a scrap piece of paper to soften the color) and to add greater interest. I then added some spots from the same set also stamping off first before stamping on the cardstock.  I did the same to the smaller layers but omitted the boarder stamp from the smaller piece of Very Vanilla so as not to take away from the bird.

I stamped the bird using Early Espresso ink (#126974) and then colored the bird using my Watercolor Pencils (#141709)  and blending using a Blender Pen (#102845).

With spring in the air, I thought about adding a cherry blossom look to the branch and added flowers from one of my favorite sets, "Reason to Smile" (retired).  I stamped the flowers on Blushing Bride cardstock (#131198) using Blushing Bride ink (#131172) and added a few strokes of the white gel pen.  I fussy cut them and popped them up on dimensionals (#104430).  I had some burlap strips laying around and so I added it for more texture.

So, here's my entry...
